Introduction: Encaustic Painting

I have decided to try encaustic painting otherwise known as painting with wax.

I first got the idea to try this medium in December of 2012, in order to complete my unfinished portfolio   for art school admissions. I'm not sure whether it was my complete lack of knowledge of the medium, or my lack of  necessary tools, but I decided to postpone this experiment until further notice.

Now, a year later, I get the opportunity to fully learn a new experience and with the gentle push of responsibility edging me on. My goal is to complete 3 different encaustic paintings through the use of different techniques, tools and even materials for each one.

If anyone has any tips for me, they will be greatly appreciated!
